Boombox is a Ukrainian band established in 2004 in Kiev by 3 friends: Andrey Khlyvniuk, Andrey “Mukha” Samoilo and Valentin “Valik” Matiyuk. All of them were “widely known in narrow circles”: Andrey sang in a cover-band Acoustic Swing Band, playing mostly jazz, Mukha and Valik were members of Tartak band, playing guitar and turntables.

Pelageya is an extraordinary band which plays folk music in a rock style. As well as the name of the energetic vocalist, Pelageya is a band led by Pavel Deshura who has helped to create a unique approach to the Russian tradition. The band are a real antidote to the rather pop based format in which Russian folk is generally presented. The band need to be seen to fully appreciate the excitement they generate.
Pelageya has an impressive string of admirers. Among them are prominent political leaders, such President Jacques Chirac of France, who described Pelageya as "the Russian Edith Piaf"
